The City Council and Mayor, surprised Diane with the award during the meeting. The honor was so well-deserved that the city decided to name the award after her, establishing the Diane L. Parker Community Champion Award, which is now presented annually to individuals who embody the same passion and dedication to community service that Diane has demonstrated.

The plaque she received from the city highlights her remarkable contributions, stating that the award was given “for her unwavering selflessness in bettering the quality of life in the community, her significant time contributions to successful events, her ability to ‘Gather the Troops’ and make people want to volunteer, and her passion for creating a stronger business community.” This recognition serves as a testament to her exceptional leadership and her tireless efforts to build a thriving, supportive environment for businesses and residents alike.

Diane has been a member of the Flat Rock Downtown Development Authority (DDA) since 2018 and currently serves as the secretary/treasurer. Additionally, she represents Our Hometown on the Flat Rock Community Service Organization (CSO), further solidifying her role as a key figure in the city’s development and community outreach efforts.

Through her work with the DDA and Our Hometown, Diane has played a pivotal role in bringing innovative ideas to life. She has helped conceive and organize a wide array of community events that have become cherished traditions in Flat Rock. These events include the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Taste of Flat Rock, Fur Fest, Animal Adoption Days, Drive-In Movie Nights, the Christmas Passport program, and raffling off gift cards to encourage shopping at local businesses. Her dedication to creating engaging and meaningful experiences for residents has strengthened the sense of community and encouraged greater participation from both businesses and individuals.

Beyond her contributions to Flat Rock, Diane’s role as an Area Representative for BIGGBY Coffee in Northwest Ohio showcases her ability to lead on a larger scale. Overseeing more than 25 stores, she provides guidance and support to franchise owners, ensuring that they have the tools and resources needed to succeed. Her expertise in business operations, marketing, and community engagement makes her an invaluable resource for fellow franchisees. Through her leadership, she has helped cultivate a strong network of BIGGBY Coffee locations that prioritize quality, customer service, and community involvement.
